Pieve dei Medici is a farming business where the past and present come together in an ode to the Tuscan landscape: we were established by Grandfather Piero and we have continued to build on this dream, day by day, bringing both courage and love to everything that we do.
Pieve dei Medici is immersed along the road known as the Strada Medicea dei Vini di Carmignano in the Prato area: a mosaic of small plots of land, steep slopes and dry stone walls. The soil is heavy and rich with marlstone.
The estate covers 12 hectares of sun kissed land, located between 100 and 150 metres above sea level.
The climate is characterised by mild winters and very hot summers with an annual rainfall of less than 700 mm concentrated in autumn and winter. An ancient water source dating back to 1000 is an important means of emergency irrigation during the long hot summers.
In just a few words: a unique territory where our dedication can be tasted in the fruits of our produce.
Pieve dei Medici was established by me, Edoardo. Having inherited my true passion for the world of farming and nature from my grandfather, I have always considered my work not as a simple “job” but a real vocation.
A feeling that was affirmed after I finished the Technical Agricultrual High School in Florence and decided to study for a university degree in Viticulture and Enology at the University of Florence.
“And why wait?” I asked myself. So the same year, armed with years of experience thanks to working in various farming businesses in Carmignano, I started developing Pieve dei Medici.
I like to call myself a tireless winemaker, who loves to tend his land with the most up to date methodologies and the purest love: because it is possible to make a difference without turning your back on tradition, fortifying it as much as possible.
Conscious, artisan farming: this is the philosophy which gives life to our daily work – from the land to the online shop – and which inspires the gentle sweetness of our figs, the elegant piquancy of our extra virgin olive oil and the spiced full-bodied taste of our wines.
Our production methods stem from ancient traditions combined with modern and innovative techniques with respect for the environment:only in this way can we increase our production capacity without neglecting our dedication to quality and without exploiting nature’s gifts.

At Pieve dei Medici our extra virgin olive oil, dried figs and Carmignano wines are the fruits of our organic project which began in December 2002. We believe strongly in the organic philosophy and dedicate all our energy and know how,using only natural and organic products; we work manually and mechanically without using chemicals, for example on our olive trees, in perfect harmony with what tradition and modernity require.
